Further, Vintage is grouped socially and it’s hard to break into those groups. Most churches are full of cliques, but it’s as if this one excels at it with such flair as to deserve an award.
Here’s the bottom line: if you’re a churchgoer who usually doesn’t question why you believe in a god, and you just want to sit in and sing songs every week, this church is fine. If you’re a doubter or someone who has intellectual, apologetical or philosophical questions, best to spend your Sunday mornings on ProCon.
If you believe in gender equality, this church is NOT for you. I was fooled by the modern and relaxed feel of the service into thinking this was a progressive, young congregation. Then I learned that they bar women from leadership. I told them that's why I'd never attend again and they had some poor lady email me and explain that women are given some "leadership roles", but not the top positions (?!). Don't be fooled like I was, just cause the pastor wears jeans doesn't mean it isn't the same old misogyny.
The church is, at its core, a group of people who have been attending an institution of worship since childhood. They’ve likely never questioned why they attend, and their visitation is more a force of habit than it is an exploration of their god.
While questioning is encouraged publicly, it’s not something that should be done with any frequency if one is attempting to assimilate into the culture.
Great non-denominational church with good kids programs.
Vintage Church does a great job ministering to all types of people including those who are doubters and seekers. The teachings are biblically based and the church community as a whole is very welcoming. If you're already a Christian and looking for a church home or are trying to find answers about God and spirituality, definitely stop by for Sunday service (9am, 11:30am, and 5pm)!
