Great place to bring pets. Although I have never been to another exotic vet, I do feel like their prices are a little high. I feel like instead of asking you to pay separately for blood work and other labs and keeping on piling on the price with the more services you add, that they should have a all-inclusive package at a reduced rate.
I have always had great experiences here. I've been coming here since I moved to Cary about six months ago. The vets really seem to care about my two guinea pigs, and they have never been anything but nice, helpful, and knowledgeable.
I called up the office and was told that the price would be $20 per day for my two piggies ($100 overall), which is about twice the price I would've paid for boarding at the Pet Pad, which is reasonable.
But I have to say that my most recent experience was not a great one. I visited family for Thanksgiving and needed to board my guinea pigs for 5 days.
I just paid $101 to have someone tell me my ball python is fine and healthy, and give me advice I could have found using Google for free. They charged me an extra $40 to pull some of my snake’s shed off of his eyes, which would have fallen off anyway, and they DID NOT tell me this would cost extra. I make $8.75 an hour working in retail and this visit was not only a scam, but over half of my biweekly paycheck. I will not be coming here again.
I am more than thankful for the care shown to my piggies, but the pricing is a little outrageous and I would not have taken them here for boarding had I known.
I recently adopted a little parrotlet and had to go away soon after on business... He is a juvenile so he can be nippy but the staff took care of him wonderfully and he seemed to legitimately like his caretaker while he was there. The cute little report card he got afterwards was a plus as well! Absolutely would recommend this place and will be back!
Just thought I'd share my experience for those thinking about boarding here. Exceptional service, but too pricey.
They are a tad expensive, but given the level of care they show, I don't mind that too much. The option to use CreditCare is pretty awesome.
We made a 2 and a half hour drive for the amazing doctors at Avian and Exotic! They took absolutely amazing care of my boys, Thor and Loki (ferrets). They've been having some pretty debilitating gastrointestinal issues and I'm so happy we decided to make the drive. They were kind, knowledgeable and very helpful and willing to discuss, at length, the various problems and solutions. Loved all of them!
The actual bill ended up being a little over $200. I was charged for an initial exam and nail trimming for both pigs, and an extra $8 per day for my second guinea pig.
