The Joel Lane house is one of my favorite places to visit in Raleigh - it's the oldest house in Wake County.... 1769. The tour cost about $7 or $8 and the entrance fee is worth it and goes toward the restoration of the property. Make sure you tour all the buildings. It is worth attending one of their special events when the staff and volunteers are in period costume.
It was great. All the people were helpful and friendly. Great displays and educational about the local history.
